The song first appeared on the soundtrack of the 1992 film Boomerang, starring Eddie Murphy, and was one of several songs to chart from the album."I'd Die Without You" was released in September 1992 as the third single from the Boomerang soundtrack. It peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic charts in 1992. The Recording Industry Association of America awarded the song a gold certification in November 1992 for selling over 500,000 copies.
