Chamindra de Silva Abeyewickreme is a hype-realistic wildlife artist focused on showcasing the wonderful nature and wildlife. Predominantly working on subjects that are threatened or endangered, through which he strives to help conservation and create awareness. Being an autodidact in pencil and brush, the unique realism style is evident in all his artwork. Which Captures the breathtaking beauty. Born in the tropical paradise Island of Sri Lanka in a little urban town named Dehiwala hugging the beautiful western coastal belt. His love and respect for nature is infuenced by the surroundings simple yet natural beauty of life. amongst the vibrant sun sets, which boast of a rich history with a multi cultural, religious and ethnic background. Ever since his younger days, it was evident that he had a talent and passion for drawing. Armed with pencil and paper he was in he's element studying the abundant nature and wildlife. It's this love and connection to the wild that drives his passion to help them. Educated in a prestigious all boy's school, St. Peter's College, Colombo 4 (1981- 1994) he was an average all-round student. Being a part of the champion All-island school's Hockey team was a sports achievement in his school career. In the school academic curriculum, he loved the Science and Art subjects. Most school mates knew him as a good artist. With the conclusion of his school career he joined a local Television station as an assistant producer for TV commercials and worked his way through to a non-linear video/flm editor. Professionally he was a highly motivated & experienced, non-linear editor, 2D & 3D graphic artist and compositor for over 18yrs in varied system platforms, even away from his motherland. Attention to detail together with a novel and creative, curious outlook fueled his passion to reach new heights. Working with Discovery channel, was one such milestone achievement in his post-production career. Ironically through these productions he witnessed the alarming rate which the wildlife and nature are being destroyed and being extinct. This ignited a deep feeling in him to help rally the cause on conservation and awareness for the wildlife. As a result in 2017 he ventured into a new chapter in his professional career as a Wildlife Artist. With countless hours honing and learning technique through which he stumbled into new realms of talent, he never knew existed. With this new found knowledge and skill together with his talent, he hopes to trigger a positive change in the future of our fragile world. He states that, this is his life's calling. The joy and satisfaction, bringing an empty canvas to 'Life', giving it purpose, meaning and an emotional experience is 'beyond words' he claims.
