I walked through the desert like a dog with no name, nobody knew me anymore and nobody found me because they had given up looking and had turned their back on me. Like a flee ridden dog I limped through the desert for a year, a decade, time was of no consequences anymore. I walked on and I left humanity behind, nobody remembered me and they all had forgotten my smile, my loud laughter was not longer heard, I walked through the desert like a dog with no name, no meat on my bones and my face I did not recognise. I walked on and my breathing was ragged, alone in the dark through the desert, silent and cold and empty even the stars had deserted me I walked through the plains like a dog that had lost its collar and was nobody's friend anymore. Words had left my mind and my thoughts were bleak and I switch off, no talking, no thinking, while I walked through the desert, for what seemed like forever but in fact was but the blink of an instant or was it, have I arrived anywhere, I smile again and I am happy, I have found myself and seen in me what I never knew. I still walk but the desert is populate and people look and see and I smile then break into a laughter that startles me as I had not heard my voice for so long but it still was as I remembered. The joy of life in the middle of absolute despair, we laugh and cry together to make a person whole, if never you have walked through the desert on your own, never can you walk in a group again and recognise love and acceptance. @jeanninekauffmann
