I was reliving our beautiful vacation on the Mediterranean coast in Italy last summer when I painted this harmonious abstract seascape. The omnipresent sunlight really brought to life the rich tapestry of colour, with the bougainvillea and many other bright blossoms of many hues, the sea, the mountains, the sky… I wanted to express and share the enchantment and joy that I felt in this wonderful seaside paradise. My favoured wet on wet technique lends a meditative, dreamlike atmosphere to this expression of my love of this bewitching region of Italy. I hope that my painting casts a spell on you the way Liguria did on me!
