All around the periphery of the Tethys Ocean​/​Sea were continental shelves, parts of Earth's continents submerged under shallow seas. In the balmy waters, these shelves would have been home to sprawling reef ecosystems, bristling with color and diversity. The Tethys Ocean was very likely full of corals.
