Gabriel

"Gabriel", after one of the artist's children. An autumn-winter work, leading up to the birth of her child. Autumn colors paint a warm canvas, black-and-white separations evoke striking contrasts, and the birth of a child illuminates life with vibrant new chapters. This warm canvas often symbolizes the richness of experiences, the human warmth and gentleness that emanates from shared moments. The striking contrasts between black and white symbolize the duality of life. The latter refers to the existence of contradictory concepts, in this case darkness and then light. A complex balance that shapes our reality and reveals the nuances of existence. Darkness evokes mystery, the unknown and sometimes the difficulties and challenges of life, while white brings light, clarity, purity, knowledge and hope. All this lends itself to the exceptional emotions that the artist describes in this painting. He's looking for a sense of life, of new relationships and connections, of joy and pride, all colorful. The work retraces several moments in a child's life, from birth at the center of the universe in the upper right-hand corner of the canvas, to the diversity of everyday learning. Here, it's a journey, the path taken by a sparkling child, who discovers a new stage in life every day. In the middle left-hand corner of the canvas, the child creates a path for himself, groping his way, on tiptoe, to take one more step each day. These steps, represented as stairs in the upper left-hand corner, are then structured, with this architecture of horizontal and vertical lines. Faithful to his favorite colors, Thomas Jeunet gives pride of place to black and white, the very beginning of color, before adding new perspectives with orange, gold, yellow, bronze and, finally, the explosion of color that is life. Yellow and orange are associated with the human condition, representing the radiance of joy, optimism and energy in life's bright moments, despite the challenges inherent in the human condition. The orange-painted fabric in the middle right of the work symbolizes the fabric of life, woven from the experiences, relationships and emotions of life, birth and childhood. This fabric evokes the connection between the different threads that make up our journey. The bottom of the canvas depicts the stages of life, the boxes a child ticks off every day as he or she learns, culminating in an explosion of color reminiscent of the dripping technique in the artist's first collection. An explosion of color and happiness. Thank you, Gabriel.
