Corridor 25

We all carry polarizing emotions of deep grief and rapture. With this series, “MITER”, Laurey deconstructs personal moments of divergent emotions, to either repair or relive these dichotomous experiences. A “MITER” is a union formed between two edges that meet at an intersection. The foundation of her work begins with urban lattice work by unrecognized artisans who fabricate manhole covers, urban grids, and moldings. Eventually these geometrics take on organic form as she constantly reduces and redefines ordinary markers of existence, provoking one to rediscover the ubiquitous splendor of the unobserved and brings the outside, inside. This assemblage series merges her competence as a graphic designer and fine artist using an unusual layered process of photography, cyanotype, digital manipulation, lithography, monoprinting, silkscreening, oil painting, resin and collage. As few artists combine the cyanotype with other techniques, medium, process and scale, Laurey excels as an innovator fused with her depth of underlying messages.
