African Blues Singers

"African Blues Singers" is a five-foot wide acrylic painting capturing the energy and excitement of live music. It's an enormous painting of an African music band performing barefoot. Angu Walters explains about the musician at the right, "It's somebody playing the shakers, made of a calabash and seeds pleated around the calabash then when you shake it give sounds." The musicians in the painting are all barefoot, which is a traditional symbol of freedom and expression. They are dressed in traditional African clothing, and they are adorned with colorful beads and jewelry. The musicians are clearly enjoying themselves, and their joy is contagious.
