This light and airy liquid watercolour and watercolour painting was definitely influenced by my having the window seat on a couple flights this summer. I love to see the clouds from above. It’s such a wonderful, relaxing experience. This abstract has a cloud​/​map fantasy feel to me. I used my trademark wet on wet technique, starting with a blank sheet of wet watercolour paper and just filling it in intuitively. As it progressed, as usual, I focused on colour harmonies and balance. I wanted a lighter, summery, sunny, joyful, more pastel palette than I often use, so no ink this time.
