In the past, I would never express myself or do anything like painting a picture of a woman. I felt ashamed and guilty for even thinking about it. But then, I realized that I don't have enough time on earth to feel guilty for being who I am and expressing myself in ways that make me happy. I wanted to paint the beauty of a woman, the beauty of a goddess, and the beauty of a body that is capable of giving life. Unfortunately, women's bodies are often stereotyped in our society. Simply going out in short clothes or not wearing a bra is considered inappropriate and is often interpreted as an invitation to men. Our bodies are taken away from us at a very young age. This painting is also a way to reassert our power. Our bodies belong to us and not to anyone else.
