Hello, I'm John K.

John is an artist from Kansas City. John calls himself a “visual ruckus maker” and loves to wear many creative hats including illustrator​,​ digital artist​,​ abstract painter​,​ content creator​,​ graphic designer​,​ photographer​,​ writer​,​ and entrepreneur. All of which contribute to his approach to work and creative problem solving. John discovered his love for creating at an early age​,​ first drawing Snoopy comics then Star Wars​,​ fighting Darth Vader and the evil Empire with his pencils​,​ pens and drawing board. John went on to earn degrees in English from the University of Missouri-KC and Graphic Design from Johnson County Community College. His passion for creating art led him to run his own graphic design agency​,​ Lightform Media​,​ from 1999-2016. Now​,​ he pursues a more “artful” career path​,​ creating illustrations and works of art that are centered around passion and serving the community with John Knell: Impact Driven Art. John creates his artwork digitally​,​ using Adobe Photoshop​,​ Illustrator​,​ Fresco​,​ After Effects and CapCut. He now lives in Overland Park​,​ a suburb of Kansas City​,​ with his wife of 30 years​,​ 2 kids​,​ 2 dogs​,​ 2 cats and too many lightsabers to count.
