Hello, I'm John K.
John is an artist from Kansas City. John calls himself a “visual ruckus maker” and loves to wear many creative hats including illustrator, digital artist, abstract painter, content creator, graphic designer, photographer, writer, and entrepreneur. All of which contribute to his approach to work and creative problem solving. John discovered his love for creating at an early age, first drawing Snoopy comics then Star Wars, fighting Darth Vader and the evil Empire with his pencils, pens and drawing board. John went on to earn degrees in English from the University of Missouri-KC and Graphic Design from Johnson County Community College. His passion for creating art led him to run his own graphic design agency, Lightform Media, from 1999-2016. Now, he pursues a more “artful” career path, creating illustrations and works of art that are centered around passion and serving the community with John Knell: Impact Driven Art. John creates his artwork digitally, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Fresco, After Effects and CapCut. He now lives in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City, with his wife of 30 years, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and too many lightsabers to count.
