Hi, my name is Philipp and i am a passionate portrait painter. Born in 1988 in Solingen-Ohligs, NRW, my path led me via Bavaria and Spain to northern Germany where I now live with my wife and daughter and work as an artist. I spent my childhood in the picturesque town of Murnau in Bavaria, the home of important artists such as Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky. Through my aunt and my grandpa I had contact with painting from a very early age and always had a pencil or brush in my hand. After studying design at the U5 in Munich under the guidance of established painters, sculptors and photographers, I moved to Spain in 2012 where I started acrylic painting on canvas in 2016. Inspired by the people around me, I combine realism with abstract elements in my paintings. I try to capture portraits in different styles and thus reinvent myself again and again. Man is a pack animal and needs other people around him to support him, stand by him, mock him, despise him, build him up, cheer him up and make him laugh. In my opinion, this is exactly the purpose of art. It should provide us with warmth and security but at the same time touch us in an unpleasant and disturbing way. This is exactly the goal I pursue with my art and my portraits. They should speak to the viewer and trigger an emotional resonance in them. Whatever this may be...
