Hello, I'm Carmen Mariela.
Carmen Mariela is a Dominican born artist, raised in a home with an architect father and an artist mother. Both fostering a creative environment inspiring her. Her mother was trained by world renowned artist Guillo Perez and she helped shape her technique at an early age. Currently living in NYC, an adventure that began four years ago and to which she integrated her calling and her passion for art. Prior to moving to NYC she finished her studies in dentistry and worked for several years as a dentist. Additionally she developed her philanthropic side working in a sustainable nonprofit organization, advocating for the environment and social work in her country. Versatile and unstructured, her work reflects moods, feelings, love for nature and the ocean. She displays an extensive color palate and prides herself for not boxing her creativity into one specific style or technique. Right now her focus is painting in oil and pastels, falling in love with the technique, but also painting in acrylic, pencil and watercolor. “I like to constantly change techniques. I like to explore and challenge myself with new paths and reinvent myself in each work because each piece I start takes part of me. That is why each work is unique and different. My love for painting blossomed as a child, but never with the intensity and devotion that I have at this moment. That is why I started expressing myself; to give my contribution to the world through what I feel inside".
