Hello, I'm Monika G.
I am a German visual artist and have been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 30 years . For a few years I have been investigating the reliability of our perception and the production of truths, judgments and prejudices. I wonder how far something we take as "truth" can be taken apart, how far it makes sense, and if it is put back together, does it create a new meaning? Through working with objects and abstractions, a vocabulary of shapes and colours is formed, which I express through photography, collage and engraving. My artistic practice leads me to develop a compositional language with geometric signs. In the workshops and meetings I share with the participants my production of printed images and we experiment together, creating a playful universe of our own. All the materials - prints, designs and papers that were worked in our workshop and were at some point discarded - come to life again in a variety of collages.
