Hello, I'm Nicole W.
Drawing and painting is something I've been passionate about since I was young. I remember my favorite after-school activity was to take art lessons from a local artist with my good friends. I spent years learning about different art techniques, studying master's work and experimenting with different mediums. Art helped me in numerous ways, it enabled me to express my emotions, destress, practice perseverance and patience, connect with others and have fun. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting and a minor in Art History. At the same time, I received my K-6 teaching license and this year I will receive a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy. I began my path in education through art. I worked at the DeYoung Museum in San Fransisco and the Denver Art Museum during my summers. These experiences gave me the opportunity to design lessons, and engage visitors and students in a discussion about art by using the Visual Thinking Strategies conversation structure. I have recently invested more time in painting and art making. I am excited to explore different materials and compositions. I associate positive memories with the landscapes that I draw and paint. I try to capture the light and color that catches my eye and I hope to share this beauty with others.
