Hello, I'm Jo R.
Jo was born in Northland New Zealand and completed her schooling at Whangarei Girls High School. She lived in Whangarei before moving to Auckland in her early thirties. Colour, design and creativity have always played a significant part in her life. Jo completed the 2 years Nanette Cameron Interior Design programme, graduated and opened her own design business "City House Interiors." Some years later Jo began a new phase in her life as a full-time Artist. She loves colour mixing, producing unique shades not found in a tube or bottle. Jo paints with acrylics and mediums including gels and pastes using brush, scrapers and palette knives in her applications on canvas, card and board. Many techniques are used including layering to create depth and translucency, glazing and texture. Abstracts and semi-abstract styles are her passion, so design, creativity and balance are necessary for producing a painting that will draw the viewer to have their own unique interpretation of her work. These are the fundamental aims Jo aspires to when she paints and she loves the "unexpected surprises" which occur when she stands back to view a finished work. Abstract painting is done exciting because the "unknown" is always there to be interpreted by the viewer.
