Hello, I'm Chaos and Thread Fine Art Studio.

I work from my studio in Waihi​,​ New Zealand​,​ and paint under the moniker Chaos and Thread. The light in Waihi is pure and the natural beauty surrounding me is endlessly inspirational. My practice has evolved over the years to pure abstraction and recently I am investigating contemporary landscape. As a process driven artist​,​ I enjoy experimenting with a combination of paint​,​ ink​,​ graphite and thread. My paintwork often embodies a fabric-like quality as it is removed from one surface to another and hand-stitched and​/​or adhered into placed. Walking a tightrope between the fastidious and the liberated means my process is at once loose and intuitive​,​ controlled and calculated. I am interested in the combination of art as an expression and craft as a form of work and how these two aspects play off each other.
