Hello, I'm Giuseppe B.
Hi! I'm Giuseppe Benzi, usually called "nonno Beppe", and I'm 92 years old. I live in San Donato Milanese, a small town near Milan, Italy. I've been working all my life as a photojournalist for IL CORRIERE DELLA SERA, a well known newspaper in Italy. 50 years ago, I randomly started to paint, because I needed to cover a hole in the wall of my house! And from there my great passion for art began! I'm a self-taught artist, but I love to read art books and I'm inspired by music and literature too. My "catalogue" is extremely various, as a result of the fact that I paint driven by the intuition of the moment: nature, religion, astronomy, mythology, daily life, abstract. In the past, I partecipated at some art exhibition, but my house is full of paintings that nobody has ever seen! In 2020 I became a widower and I completely immersed myself in art: it helped me a lot to mourn and fill the consequent emptiness. Recently, my granddaughter started to post my paintings on Instagram, at @giuseppe.benzi, and made me partecipate to some exhibition (Premio Internazionale Isabella d'Este at Ferrara 2021, AQUARS 2021, Milano Art&Design week 2021, Maestri a Milano 2022, AMARS 2022)...so now you have no excuses to see them... CARPE DIEM! ... hope you like and enjoy them!
