Hello, I'm Laurie McWilliams .

Laurie was born in Dublin​,​ and is currently living in Cork. Her work is a deeply personal response to her environment​,​ and she very often expresses this through colour. Laurie is inspired by the Expressionist movement and Abstract Expressionism. That is​,​ she presents her work from a subjective perspective​,​ distorting it for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas which appeal to the soul. She is influenced by artists such as Edvard Munch​,​ Salvador Dali​,​ Francis Bacon​,​ and abstract expressionists such as Willem Dé Kooning. Laurie works mainly in acrylics on canvas​,​ but sometimes in oils​,​ depending on whichever is more appropriate for what she is trying to express.
