Hello, I'm Amy C.
Amy Holt Cline (b. 1973, California) explores concepts connected to people, the environment, moments between friends and layers color and materials to create new textures. Amy studied art at the University of the Arts and received her M.A. in Art Education where she merged science and art as a new method to teach science content to students. She did an apprenticeship with Philadelphia based artist, James Dupree and has exhibited her work in local (Bijorn&Co) and Brooklyn based (Alma Restaurant) art spaces. The work included here is made of acrylic paint and a mixture of media that is inspired by the ocean, culture, the environment, and the rhythms of our lives. As a California native who has lived on the east coast for more than 20 years, Amy seeks new experiences, conversations, and methods to try to answer the big questions of life. Being an artist is about expressing ideas through various mediums and about losing oneself in color. In addition to paint, fabric, brushes and canvas, the artist is thankful that there is also yoga, good food, good people and the outdoors to keep her inspired while she is away from the ocean.
