Hello, I'm Candy P.
A northern Virginia native now living in Phoenix, Arizona, I am a self-taught and continuously learning artist who first picked up brushes in mid-2020 when my son left the nest and I was inspired to turn his room into an art studio. There's no going back for either of us now! Initially taking an interest in acrylic pouring, I quickly transitioned to abstract paintings after discovering: 1) how messy that process was, and 2) the work of John Beckley on YouTube. His work mesmerized me and I set out to honor his influence through my own work. My paintings are primarily done with acrylic and spray paint on stretched canvas and typically feature bright colors, as I’ve always had an affinity for lively hues. Orange and purple are my favorite and I’ve developed an affinity for magenta, as well, since embarking on this journey. I also do some mixed media work, incorporating collage pieces. I have been amazed and humbled by the initial interest in my art and hope to continue to grow, experiment, and create in tribute to those who have supported me early in this journey.
