When, with both eyes closed, on a warm autumn evening,
I breathe in the scent of your warm breast,
I see happy shores unfolding
Dazzled by the fires of a monotonous sun;

A lazy island where nature gives
Singular trees and tasty fruits;
Men whose bodies are lean and vigorous,
And women whose eyes are astonished by their frankness.

Guided by your scent towards charming climates,
I see a harbor full of sails and masts
Still all tired by the sea wave,

While the scent of tamarind greens,
Which circulates in the air and swells my nostril,
Mingle in my soul with the song of the boatmen.
